"Κρούθις"
Dergree show,  ASFA, Athens, 2023

The word "κρούθις" (kru-θɨs) was devised spontaneously in my attempt to verbally communicate with my cat. Over time, I noticed that it is a word I often use
to express a feeling of loving acceptance towards what I feel, or would like to feel, intimate with. It is a word that expresses the point of union of disparate elements.

The "κρούθις" drawings presented consist of forms created to express and morphologically explore concepts such as, communication, union, erotic intertwining, interdependence and complementarity.

The firstdesignsmaterialised after observing and studying the morphology of single-cell organisms and fossils of archaic life forms. Drawing inspiration from the patterns decorating ancient ceramics, the initial studies evolved producing a genealogy of shapes. Through this process, a multitude of biomorphic autonomous forms emerged, resembling vessels that somehow awaited to be filled and fulfilled.

The need for mutual completion of the individual forms appears in the way of serrated indentations and projections , which act as joints for a system of communicating vessels, fulfilling this desire of mutual nourishment and organic coexistence of the forms. The "Kruthis" underminethe fundamental feature of fractals-self-similarity, by attempting a synthetic organization of different forms and their derivatives. The "Kruthis" mightbe perceived as networks that, growing in two-dimensional space, create complex structures consisting of an ensemble of pictograms. They represent a writing system. A language consisting of peculiar character-words, which cannot be read in the ordinary way, but rather expands and expresses itself spatially in all dimensions.
